Classroom research revisited: Who are the ‘practitioners’?
For the 2018 Joint Seminar, JACET will offer both its Summer Seminar and its English Education Seminar, in collaboration with three JACET SIGs on Developmental Education (Jugyogaku [Kanto; Chubu; & Kansai]). The seminar will focus on classroom research. In contemporary language education contexts, teachers are encouraged to identify salient issues, carry out systematic investigations, and collaborate with colleagues in research. Indeed, there are numerous challenges to conducting classroom research. This seminar thus aims to explore three areas: Why should we revisit classroom research now? How might we approach it? Who are the ‘practitioners’? In addressing these questions, this joint seminar will include oral presentations, poster sessions, symposia, and featured lectures by prominent researchers.

Applications will be closed upon reaching 120 participants. Late applications will not be accepted.
Seminar participation fee: 12,000 yen (JACET member), 14,000 yen ( non-JACET member )
Graduate/Undergraduate students: 4,000 yen [ pay on the site by cash ]
Party fee: 3,000 yen / 1,000 yen (students)

Poster session applications:
We are accepting poster session applications for attendees of this year’s summer seminar.
The content should be related to the theme of the seminar and be related to university endeavors in English education or your own English education programs.
This year’s poster session will include examples of English education in practice and will provide an opportunity to receive comments from the invited lecturers.
The poster size may be up to A0 size (1 sheet, portrait).
The first presenter must be a JACET member in order to submit an application.
Application procedure:
Please send an MS Word attachment via email to the JACET office ( jacet@zb3.so-net.ne.jp ) with the subject; “Seminar Proposal Submission”. The mail should include the names of presenters, JACET membership numbers, and affiliation. The MS Word file should be attached the proposal for your poster (including the title), and be no longer than A4 1 page.
＊applicants should be registered as its application.
Deadline for the poster session application: Friday, June 8, 2018
Applications will be evaluated after the above deadline, and applicants will be
contacted with the results.

The 1st JACET Summer (45th) and English Education (6th) Joint Seminar (Kyoto, 2018)
この夏、京都にて、第45回サマーセミナーと第６回英語教育セミナーを統合したJACET第１回ジョイントセミナーを２泊３日の予定で開催します。応用言語学の主要研究対象の一つであり、私たち教師が共有する「授業」について、最新のクラスルームリサーチの研究成果に基づいて、参加者の皆さんと考察したいと思います。近年、当該研究分野ではExploratory Practice（EP: 探索的授業実践）が注目を集めています。この分野で著名な研究者であるJudith Hanks教授（英国リーズ大学）をお招きし、EPをはじめとした最先端の研究をご紹介いただきます。
「いま、なぜクラスルームリサーチなのか？」― この問いを通して、授業改善にむけた活発な議論や情報交換を行いたいと思います。国内からも、Tim Stewart（京都大学）・竹内理（関西大学）・柳瀬陽介（広島大学）・吉田達弘（兵庫教育大学）各先生など、当該分野における代表的な研究者を講師としてお招きする予定です。講師による講義やシンポジウムに加えて、セミナー参加者によるポスターセッションや賛助会員によるプレゼンテーションと教材などの展示、さらにJACET授業学研究会（関東、中部、関西）の３年間の活動の総括としての分科会やシンポジウムも予定しています。

本セミナーでは参加者からポスターセッション発表を募ります。
内容はセミナーの主旨に即した各大学の英語教育の取り組みや自身が係る英語教育プログラム等の紹介を求めます。
ポスターセッションでは実践例の報告をし、講師からコメントをいただく予定です。
ポスターサイズはA0サイズ1枚分が掲示可能です。
ポスターセッションの応募は第1発表者がJACET会員であることを条件とします。
応募方法：
JACET事務局( jacet@zb3.so-net.ne.jp )宛にMS Word文書をEメール送信してください。
メールの件名は「The 1st Joint Seminar Proposal Submission」とし、発表者全員の氏名、会員番号、所属をメール本文に明記し、発表要旨(A4判1ページ以内・英語[タイトルを含む])を添付してください。
応募締切： 2018年６月８日(金)(厳守)
