The Japan Association of College English Teachers


The Japan Association of College English Teachers (JACET) is a general incorporated association. Since its establishment in 1962, JACET has been striving to improve tertiary level English language education in Japan as well as promote research into language teaching and learning by offering venues for the presentation of research and its application, recognizing college teachers for meritorious work and conducting surveys of academia.

JACET is comprised of a headquarters unit and seven chapters covering all of Japan: Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku-Shikoku, and Kyushu-Okinawa. JACET is affiliated with ten associations having related interests: AILA (Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquée or International Association of Applied Linguistics), RELC (Singapore), KATE (Korea), ETA-ROC (Taiwan), ALAK (Korea), MELTA (Malaysia), PKETA (Korea), CELEA (China), Thai-TESOL (Thailand), and JALT (Japan)

With over 2,200 members, JACET is striving to improve English language education and thus contribute to the realization of a better future for our students.
