Updates to the JACET Bulletin
 Oka Hideo, Director in Charge
Kawano Madoka, Chief Editor
Dear JACET members,
Starting with volume 44 of the JACET Journal, the following aspects have been updated. These are the outcome of long discussions at editorial committee meetings and have been approved by the board.
  1. The English name has been changed from JACET Bulletin to JACET Journal.
The new name sounds more academic and is better suited to the nature of the JACET organization.
  2. The cover has been totally modernized.
At its inception in 1970, the size of the JACET Bulletin was set at B5. This was then changed to A4 in 1997. Although necessitating an increased budget, we were able to commission a new, more modern cover design. We hope it will find general approval.
  3. The list of reviewers is now provided at the beginning of each volume, rather than at the back.
Since serving as a reviewer is recognized as an academic activity, we would like to show our appreciation to the reviewers, who undertake this responsibility without remuneration. (Note: The Editorial Board was expanded in 2005 to 17 members.)
  4. Guidelines for Submissions have been updated.
(Click here for the new guidelines)

Submission guidelines incorporated features from both the typewriter age and the computer age. We therefore decided to update the guidelines to meet the needs of our times. The following will be applied, beginning with the next volume.
    1. Software, style: The paper should be formatted using Microsoft Word (2000 or later). As before, submitters should follow the APA style manual (5th ed.).
    2. Fonts: English papers must use Times New Roman. Japanese papers, as before, should use Mincho.
    3. Spacing: 1 inch margins all around; 1 page should have 26 lines.(insert period)
    4. Abstracts: Both English and Japanese papers must include an abstract in English (maximum 200 words).
    5. Key words: Both English and Japanese papers should be accompanied by up to 5 key words or phrases.
    6. Areas of interest: These have been expanded and updated. (This is to facilitate the allocation of reviewers so as to match the areas of interest of members submitting manuscripts.)
