２００６年度大会の予告　JACET 45rd Convention in Osaka ■　日　　程 ： ２００６年９月８・９・１０日（金・土・日） ■　会　　場 ： 関西外国語大学・中宮キャンパス Kansai Gaidai University, Nakamiya Campus （大阪府枚方市中宮東之町16-1） ■ 大会テーマ ： 「授業力─大学全入時代の大学英語教師─」 “Pedagogical Considerations for University English Instruction in a New Era of Open Admissions” 第44回全国大会で英語教育の到達目標についての理解を深めたことを受け、第45回全国大会では、高等教育における授業そのものに焦点を当て、教師の「授業力」について考える。少子化に伴う「大学全入時代」を目前に控え、多くの高等教育機関が学生にとって魅力ある授業作りに取り組んでいる。その流れの中で、英語教育も多様な学力や学習ニーズを持つ学生への対応が迫られている。また国際社会で通用する英語力が求められる中、多様化する学生の教育水準をいかに維持し向上させるべきかという大きな問題にも直面している。このような問題に対処し、教育効果を高めるためには、補習教育の導入をはじめとして教授法、シラバス、カリキュラム編成等の抜本的な見直しを図り、実効ある改革を断行する必要がある。大学・短大・高専を取り巻く厳しい状況を踏まえ、本大会では、「授業力」を基軸として大学英語教育改革のための課題を多面的に論じ、現状認識を更に深め、改革に向けての具体的な方策を打ち出す。 Pedagogy will be the focus of the 45th JACET Annual Convention. Last year, the theme was the deepening of our understanding of the goals of English education. Now we will shift our focus to pedagogy as we face a new era of open admissions and falling academic levels with a drop in the nation’s birth rate. Because of the declining school-age population, many institutions of higher education are striving to design more attractive classes. English educators are no exception. We are compelled to adapt to a range of academic abilities and to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Moreover, while society calls for a level of English proficiency that will enable international exchange, how to maintain and raise the educational level of students with diversified interests and abilities is yet another problem confronting us. In order to resolve such issues, and at the same time maximize the effect of education, it is essential that we implement drastic reforms by reconsidering learning methodologies, syllabi, and curricula, in addition to introducing remedial education. Against the background of the harsh circumstances of universities, two-year colleges, and technical colleges today, we need to discuss the issues for university English education reform with a focus on pedagogy. We also hope to further deepen our understanding of the present conditions and set forth concrete plans for effective reform.
